Educational System |
DOU runs in a semester basis:
| Fall Semester: |
September - December |
| Spring Semester: |
January - April |
| Summer semester: |
June - August |
DOU classes are conducted thru the Borderless Distance and Open Education (with Dual Tracks), via core and secondary media:
Core Media - 2 systems support this core communication:
- Electronic-based educational system: teaching is conducted via the use of Internet and the Telecommunications
- Print-based media: classes are continued as students learn from the Study Guide, the Course Comprehensive Text, Handouts, and Encyclopedia.
Secondary Media - this teaching aid is available to all students:
- OSI Screen Interactive Conference: connecting the transmission from the DOU's headquarters in Azusa, CA, to other remote branches located all around the world via the Satellite system and the Internet.
Thanks to these advanced technologies, student's life could not be any easier. Each student, no matter of where s/he is, would have access to the real-time lectures, enabling the live interactions between students and lecturers. Yet, this sophisticated technology permits students to practice lessons learned altogether with lecturers and classmates, enhancing skills development.
As for the time-zone limitations, some classes and lectures can be repeated, so that students can participate in classes at their convenient and appropriate time.
- Audio visual aids: available in Audio CD, CD-Rom, Cassette, and Video format. These supports are for contents that can't be explicitly explained by text books. Transparencies, diagrams, and charts are also available for some subjects.
DOU has also produced the DE Courseware, which is a kit promoting self-study. Kits are available in both Thai and English.
