Philosophy

Life-long learning without boundaries has been the core of DOU's philosophies. We believe in education that can be continued without interrupting our normal lives. The ultimate goal of DOU is to shape a complete, a perfect human being. By 'perfect', it refers to a human whose life is full of merits, who can live happily without causing problems to others and the society - a person who finally finds a true happiness, and is able to help and give proper advice to others.

After finishing programs at DOU, students should have developed a thorough understanding of Dhamma, theoretically and practically, and gained experiences in practicing Dhamma. Also, students should display a deep appreciation in the way of livings; a comprehension of lives; a realization of ultimate goals, for being a human; and the ability to train themselves in Buddhism ways, so that they could bring peace into their lives and those of surrounding others.

Established around the world, DOU is giving opportunities to everyone around the world to experience the joy of Dhamma together with receiving a world-class education without moving away from home. Hopefully, the knowledge gained would be beneficial to all humankinds, regardless of sexes, ages, races, or religious.

Both Certificate and Bachelor degree are available for students who complete the courses. The degree awarded is B.B. (Buddhist Studies).
